“If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.” -Tony Robbins
Tomorrow is the day. Circle the date in red permanent marker and let it be known that on Sunday, March 20, 2016 I am beginning a new stage in my life. As I've written about on the Walking & Running page, I am beginning an eight week running training plan and a new way of eating--focusing on nourishing my body rather than feeding my emotions.
Tomorrow I begin a new way of living. I will live with purpose, intentionality, thoughtfulness.
I've recently learned about Brian Flemming. He is a man who lost over 300 pounds and is now running marathons. He started a group called Team 383; the 383 is in reference to the amount of weight he lost. The group is totally inspirational in that it focusing on healthy living and eating coupled with exercise. No pricey weight-loss fads, no expensive gadgets and gizmos. The group relies on hard work and dedication, making each day count--80% diet/20% exercise.
So far I've made the fish and the muffins. The millet is soaking in preparation for the veggie quiche. But I think it is too late to make that tonight. I think I'd rather get a good night's sleep and get it all done tomorrow after teaching and tutoring..
Part of my new life is getting a good night's sleep. Now, on average I need about 9 hours of sleep to feel well rested. So if I mean to get up and exercise early, before leaving for work at 7:30am, that would mean working out from 5:45am-6:45am, which would mean leaving for the gym at 5:35am, waking up at 5:15am. So if I'm up at 5:15am with 9 hours of sleep, that means going to sleep at 8:15pm. OMG!!!! Going to sleep at 8:15pm?!? Wow!!! That is early!!!!! That would mean never doing anything after work. Is it sustainable? I honestly don't know. I guess time will tell. But man I WANT it to work. So I think what I am going to do is set my phone to go off every night at 8:00pm. That will be my signal to start the bedtime routine. I'll give it a week, Sunday night through Saturday night. I'll see if it is doable. I'll see if it is realistic.
Here's to the rest of my healthy, balanced, nourishing life!!!!!!
